Why they buy it.

For UAE accounting and tax firms with 30 to 600 SME clients who track each client's VAT and corporate tax dates in one Excel file and chase documents by email, the Accounting app is a branded practice system with a client portal that generates every client's deadlines from its tax profile and has clients upload against a request list. Unlike an Excel tracker and a shared drive, it reminds the client when an item is late, closes a deadline only when the FTA acknowledgement is attached, and keeps CDD files and sanctions screening in the same place.

The job, the pain, the gain.

What the people who run these businesses are trying to get done, what goes wrong today, and what changes.

The job

  • File each client's VAT and corporate tax returns on time
  • Get complete documents from clients before the return is due
  • Keep CDD files and screening ready for an inspection
  • Bill retainers every month and get paid

The pain

  • Each client has its own VAT stagger, financial year and corporate tax dates, tracked in one Excel file that one person understands.
  • Documents arrive by email and chat, half complete, a few days before the return is due.
  • CDD files and screening results sit in scanned folders, and nobody knows which reviews are due.

The gain

  • A calendar that builds itself
Deadlines generated from each client's tax profile, each one a task with an owner, reminders and the FTA acknowledgement attached at the end.
  • Clients upload against a list
A branded portal with each period's document request list. Clients upload from a phone, and late items are reminded automatically.
  • AML files in order
Beneficial owners, sanctions screening against the UN and UAE lists, risk rating and approval, scheduled CDD reviews, and an AML case log only the MLRO sees.

What makes it different.

Against A shared drive per client, email and an Excel deadline tracker, and against a generic suite with a module bolted on.

Deadlines from the tax profile

Each client's VAT period, financial year and corporate tax registration generate its compliance calendar. A deadline closes when the acknowledgement is attached.

Review and client approval built in

VAT and corporate tax returns are prepared by one person, reviewed by another, and approved by the client in the portal. After filing, the return is locked.

AML evidence next to the client work

Client parties are screened against the UN Consolidated List and the UAE Local Terrorist List and re-screened when the lists change. CDD reviews are scheduled, and the MLRO keeps a case log with goAML references.

A day with it.

08:30, the manager opens the deadline calendar. As our demo tells it; the company and its data are fictional.

  1. This month's VAT returns are shown by status; six are due in five days with documents still missing.

  2. One client's request list shows what is outstanding, what was rejected with a reason, and the reminders already sent.

  3. On a phone, the client's finance contact opens the portal and uploads the purchase invoices; the manager accepts them.

  4. An accountant prepares the return, the manager reviews it and the client approves it in the portal. After filing on EmaraTax the acknowledgement is attached and the task closes.

  5. The MLRO sees a high-risk client's EDD file, CDD reviews due and a re-screening hit waiting for a decision. The partner sees WIP, realisation and retainers past due by client.

Inside the app.

Who it is for.

Accounting, tax and fractional-CFO firms in the UAE that serve SME clients on monthly retainers for bookkeeping, VAT, corporate tax and CFO services. Usually a registered tax agency that must keep CDD and sanctions screening files as a DNFBP.

Not for:

  • Firms looking for a general ledger or bookkeeping software
  • Firms that want returns filed straight to EmaraTax or reports sent straight to goAML
  • Audit firms looking for an audit methodology

Also included.

  • VAT and corporate tax return workflows with a separate reviewer
  • Engagement letters accepted in the portal
  • Time entries, retainers and WIP billing
  • Invoices, payments and cheques
  • Month-end close checklists
  • KPI packs from imported trial balances (Zoho Books, Xero, QuickBooks, Tally)
  • Client groups with one login for a group CFO
  • Firm dashboards and migration from your Excel files

What people ask.

  1. Does it file with the FTA or goAML?

No. You file on EmaraTax and goAML as today. The system records who filed, the acknowledgement or goAML reference, and locks the filed return.

  2. Will it replace Zoho or Xero for our clients' books?

No, it is not a ledger. Books stay where they are, and you import the trial balance for KPI packs. Live connectors to Zoho Books, Xero and QuickBooks are on the roadmap.

  3. Is the screening good enough for an inspection?

It screens your client parties against the UN Consolidated List and the UAE Local Terrorist List, re-screens when the lists change, and alerts the MLRO at once. The MLRO decides and reports. Commercial screening providers are on the roadmap. We do not certify your compliance.

  4. Client data is confidential.

Each firm has its own deployment, hosted in the UAE. Staff see only the clients they are assigned to, every view of passports and bank statements is logged, and staff log in with two-factor authentication.
